The East Bay Modern Quilters are excited to announce that our Stitch Modern 2015 lecture will be given by Joe Cunningham. Joe began making quilts professionally in 1979.  He approaches quilt making as a painter approaches a canvas.  He is known, in part, for creating visual interest on his quilts with lines created with bias tape and improvisational quilting stitches. You can see some of his most recent work in this gallery.

Joe has studied with the quilters of Gees Bend in Alabama and been an artist in residence at the De Young Museum.  He has published extensively on the subject of quilting, including 10 books and numerous magazine articles.  His work can currently be seen in the exhibition, Man-Made: Contemporary Male Quilters at the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles.

Join us to learn more about Joe Cunningham’s fascinating career in the world of quilts. He will also be bringing some of his recent work to share!

I am requesting permission from you to post your Stitch Modern gallery events in my guild newsletter; my guild is San Francisco Quilters Guild, of which Joe is a member. My focus is on the Joe Cunningham lecture. May I have permission to put your blurb in our newsletter? It goes out to all of our members, and then gets posted on our website. Thank you
